Paw-some Awards: Best Moments of 2024 in Toronto Pet Photo Sessions

As we wrap up another incredible year, I want to take a moment to thank all of my amazing pet photography clients—both two-legged and four-legged! 🐾

Your trust in me to capture your pets’ unique personalities and cherished moments means the world. This year has been so special, and it’s all because of you.

So, let’s have some fun!

I’ve chosen awards for standout categories from this year’s photo sessions—think “Best Ears,” “Biggest Smile,” and “Sweetest Senior!” These awards are all about celebrating the quirks and charm that make our pets one of a kind and are my way of reflecting on the joy, laughter, and love that filled every session.

Here’s to you and your wonderful pets—thank you for being part of an unforgettable year!

Let’s dive into this year’s paw-sitively delightful awards! 🐶🐾✨

Drumroll, please…

  1. Let’s start with the Smallest Dog

This award definitely goes to to the pint sized Chihuahua, Dido. His session this past fall was a vibrant celebration of colour, with the golden hues of Toronto’s autumn perfectly complementing his stunning orange sweater. He looked absolutely radiant against the rich, warm tones of the season!

2. Next up is the Largest Dog.

Blue, a gorgeous Samoyed with a strikingly beautiful appearance, was the clear winner of the largest dog award, or perhaps he just appeared to look much bigger because of that magnificent and fluffy coat that accentuated his impressive stature!

3. How about Best Smile!

Idefix had to win the best smile award! His session was an absolute joy, thanks to his big, infectious smile that could brighten even the cloudiest day! Every photo captured his pure happiness.

4. Best Dog in Action.

Brewer, the Havanese, gets this award because despite having his photo session just a few days before he went in for heart surgery, he still gave us some great action shots. Way to go Brewer!

5. Most Captivating Eyes

This award goes to the ever so handsome Kota,  with his intense, soulful eyes drawing you in like a magnet. It felt like every photo captured the depth and wisdom behind his gaze.

6. What about the Best Ears!

I picked Hollie, the Jack Russell Terrier, for this award. I love how her ears seem like little velvety ear wings – soft ears that seem ready to take off. Her ears frame her face with a whimsical charm. Whether they're flopping as she runs or twitching at the sound of my treat bag, her ears are perfectly expressive.

But in this category I must also acknowledge Pépe, a dog that I photographed at the Etobicoke Humane Society. Just look at his photo and I know you’ll agree with me! His ears seem too big for his head but what a cutie and such a personality!  I know he will find that forever home.

7. Sweetest Senior

I was privileged to photograph so many amazing senior dogs this year.  It was a really tough choice!

In the end, Lexi who came for her second session with me (yay!), stole this spot with her gorgeous greying muzzle, and totally sweet nature. Her sweetness seems to radiate from her photos!

Talking of seniors, here’s why I believe that senior pet photos matter!

8. Best Head Tilt

Who doesn’t love those head tilts!   This year’s Head Tilt Champion, Shingen, stole the show with the most adorable, inquisitive tilts that made everyone’s heart melt! Whether it was the sound of a squeaky toy or a whispered treat promise, this pup’s perfectly-timed tilts added an extra dose of charm!

9. Most Captivating Colouring

Gracie takes home this award with her stunning blend of white, black, and brown fur that creates a masterpiece all its own.

10. Best Scruffy Dog

The Scruffy Dog award goes to Brodie, the lovable pup whose perfectly scruffy look stole the spotlight. With tousled hair that gives a “just rolled out of bed” vibe, this little guy made me laugh!

Let’s not forget the Cats!

11. Most Striking Cat

Luna gets the award for the most striking cat I photographed this year. Her deep black colouring would make many a suspicious person shy away - but to me and her devoted humans that is what makes her so special.

There you have it - 2024’s best moments in pet photography for clients of Terri J Photography.  I look forward to doing this again next year.
