Creating Memories with a Perfect Family Portrait Session Featuring Beloved Dogs
A sneak peek into a family portrait session with dogs where love, laughter, and furry paws come together to create timeless memories.
I recently did an autumn photo session with a lovely family and their two adorable dogs, Cobalt and Carbon, among the breathtaking backdrop of a picturesque park in North York.
They planned the photoshoot out of concern for one of their beloved dogs who had recently had a health scare. They hoped to capture cherished moments of them and their pets, celebrating the love they have for their two adorable Frenchies and the wonderful bonds that tie them. And we certainly did that!
The beautiful North York location
Our location was a beautiful park close to their home in North York and that also happens to be one of my favourite locations for family portrait sessions.
This park was the perfect canvas for our photo session with its lush forests, winding pathways and gorgeous rocks.
The late autumn weather provided trees painted in warm shades of gold and red forming a stunning backdrop, along with beautiful blankets of gold leaves on the ground.
This park has some gorgeous rocks that I frequently use as props to create a beautiful, rustic theme for our portrait sessions.
When photographing small dogs I look for surfaces where we can elevate them and where we can have the couple sit or lean.
The rocks worked perfectly for this, while adding rugged textures and earthy tones.
You can see that theme in the photos of Carbon and Cobalt below.
The cool fall day added a touch of autumn magic, but it was a concern for Cobalt, so after a while she was lovingly wrapped her in a cozy sweater to ensure her well being and we managed to get some adorable photos of her dressed for the fall weather.
Carbon on the other hand, added a scarf to his “wardrobe” and strutted his stuff in an eye-catching red scarf.
I love the contrast of the vibrant red against the earthy tones of the fall foliage which made for one of my favourite images of the portrait session.
With leaves gently falling, dogs goofing around, and a family wrapped in love in a stunning North York location, this family portrait session with their beloved dogs became a snapshot of pure joy.
