Wildlife Bird Photography Florida
As a dog photographer I am often asked if I take pictures of anything other than pets, like wildlife for example.
Well the answer is a resounding yes!
I love doing wildlife photography when the opportunity arises. This is not often enough because usually some travel is required and of course I need to make more time to do that.
Anyway back to my wildlife photography. Since I spend a lot of time in Florida in the winter months, you’ll often find me at a wetlands, beach or nature reserve looking for beautiful birds to photograph. Florida is known for its birding trail and every day there are many photographers out there capturing great images of the beautiful birds that pass through the area. Most of these birds are wading birds so it goes without saying that the opportunity to capture wonderful reflections in the shallow waters is really great.
Those “reflections” photos are truly some of my favourite bird pictures. So what types of birds do I capture in the Everglades areas?
I adore the Roseate Spoonbills for their gorgeous pink colouring and unusual beaks. Little Blue Herons are common in and around the Everglades and are often captured wading and fishing in the shallow waters. Ibis are very plentiful and love to splash and bathe, giving me a chance to capture them with their reflections too. I’ve been lucky enough on a few occasions to shoot (with my camera of course) the Sandhill Cranes with their stunning red head.
So for those that asked, here are a few wildlife photos where reflection is the theme!

But wildlife photography aside, I’m still a dog photographer at heart and that is my first love.
