Highlights of a senior dog photo shoot in Toronto
/Joanne contacted me about a senior dog photo shoot in Toronto for herself, her husband Ryan and their senior dog, Mickey.
He was turning 15.
We found an available date and it happened to be right on his actual 15th birthday. So his photo shoot was a birthday celebration!
The day of the photo shoot was a fairly mild, early winter’s day. We had recently received a snowfall and the ground was still snow covered and icy in some areas so we had to tread carefully - nobody wanted Mickey to injure himself on his special day. (Or injure ourselves for that matter!)
Mickey and his Mom, Joanne wore matching sweatshirts and they looked so adorable! We did remove the sweatshirt for some of Mickey’s photos because I always like my clients to have some photos of their dog looking as natural as possible.
Take a look at the photos below with them in their sweatshirts ( and just look at that cute face!) and then with Mickey where we removed his shirt.
Mickey is the sweetest little boy and I fell in love with that cute greying muzzle. His photo shoot was a blast for everyone and I hope that he enjoyed it as much as his humans and I did!
If you have a senior dog, here’s what you can expect from your photo shoot:
I always make sure your pet is comfortable and handling the pace of the session. I follow the dog’s lead, read their body language and watch for signs of stress and anxiety. If I see any, I take a rest and give them some space.
I suggest a location that is suitable for your dog’s unique needs taking into account how much walking or activity they can do.
The location we chose for Mickey’s photo shoot is one of my favourites in the Toronto area. It offers such a great variety of backdrops from natural vegetation to graffiti walls, paths, ponds and fences all in a fairly small area so not too much walking is required. Perfect for senior dog photo shoots!
Want to find out more about my favourite location? Simply send me an email.
When should you schedule a senior photo shoot for you and your dog?
Honestly, in one word: Now! There’s no time like the present to get photos of a senior dog. You’ll want to remember your dog looking as happy and active as possible! So consider inquiring about a senior dog photo shoot for you and your precious pup.
Meanwhile here are some more photos from Mickey’s birthday photo shoot.
If you’re interested in seeing more, here’s a look at another senior dog photo shoot .
As part of a blog circle in which I participate, this week we’ve chosen to highlight some pet photo sessions.
Dallas dog photographer Tracy Allard of Penny Whistle Photography welcomes your dog to join you in the family portrait.
