Richmond Green Park Dog and Engagement Photography
/In April I met Vivian, Michael and their Jack Russell Terrier, aptly named Russell , for their combined dog and engagement photoshoot. Vivian and Michael wanted to include Russell in their engagement shoot because he is such an integral part of their lives. They contacted me because of my expertise in working with dogs and people together and of course I was very happy to be a part of their special time!
We chose Richmond Green Park for the photoshoot because of the many features it offers. The park, located in the heart of Richmond Hill, Ontario, is also known as the Richmond Green Sports Centre and Park and is an ideal place for all types of photography. I’ve done many dog photography sessions there but this was my first engagement and dog photoshoot combined.
The many features of Richmond Green Park provide great backdrops for photo sessions. There is a beautiful cedar trellis surrounded by flower gardens as well as a ovely gazebo which overlooks a pond enjoyed by ducks, geese and birds. Because the session was in April, the flower beds were not blooming yet, but many other features still made for an interesting session.
Two of the most prominent features of the park are the natural stone waterfall and the concrete bridge that provide a scenic backdrop for all types of photography sessions including dog portraits or engagement and family portraits.
The photoshoot took place in April when so many of our parks in the Richmond Hill, Markham and Toronto areas are still very muddy from the spring rains and melting snow, however Richmond Green Park was an ideal location because of the walkways and boardwalks throughout the property, allowing us to avoid muddy pathways.
It turned out to be a great session and Michael and Vivian were so much fun to photograph. They were happy to oblige in whatever I asked them to do! Here’s what they had to say after they received their on-line gallery:
